Needs Assessment: Understanding the client's specific needs is critical. This includes the size and layout of the space to be covered, the number of connected devices, the type of network traffic expected (voice, video, data), among other factors.
Network Design: Develop a detailed network design plan that includes the placement and configuration of APs, as well as the selection of appropriate Wi-Fi standards (e.g., 802.11ac, 802.11ax) and frequency channels to minimize interference.
Performance Optimization: Perform performance testing and fine-tuning to ensure optimal Wi-Fi network performance. This may include coverage optimization, load balancing between APs, and bandwidth management.
Training and Support: Provide training to client personnel on basic network maintenance and offer ongoing support to address any issues that may arise.
Devices: Select the best equipment to suit the client's needs.
Physical Environment Analysis: A detailed inspection of the area where the Wi-Fi network will be deployed is performed. This includes measuring the layout of walls, the presence of obstacles, the composition of building materials (which can affect signal propagation), and the location of potential sources of electromagnetic interference.
Access Point (AP) Location Identification: Based on the environmental analysis, the optimal locations for placing Wi-Fi access points are determined. The goal is to ensure uniform coverage in all necessary areas, minimizing dead zones.
Coverage Simulation: Wi-Fi signal strength simulations are performed using specialized software at different locations within the study area.
Channel Optimization and Configuration: Appropriate frequency channels are selected, and transmission parameters (signal strength, transmission speed, etc.) are configured to minimize interference and maximize network performance.
Telecommunications engineer and MBA with over 10 years of experience in the sector.
I have worked for large internet service providers and small companies, always working in engineering departments responsible for the design and architecture of wireless networks.
Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to be exposed to most of the Wi-Fi solution vendors on the market, having approved and tested multiple solutions.
I've participated in the design of solutions for areas ranging from school connectivity, military camps, and maritime connectivity to large stadiums and events with more than 100,000 people, including both high- and low-density indoor and outdoor environments.
